The MRI Suite

As someone with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis, I dislike MRI machines almost as much as I am grateful to them. And as a game designer, I wanted to make the experience of getting an MRI better. So, I developed these three solo larps that can only be played in the unique confines of an MRI machine.

The MRI Suite contains:
Get Home Cool - an updated version of my super-chill sci-fi getaway
The Séance Engine - a turn-of-the-century supernatural expedition
Bone Music - a whole-body jam session with you & your bones

Yes, these are single-page, solo larps. No, you are not allowed to move a muscle or make a noise. No, a bathtub or a cardboard box or even a CAT scan won't do. It's gotta be the tremendous noise (erratic yet rhythmic) of an active MRI machine, which is the central mechanic these games run on. If you know, you know.

And yes, I authentically mean these with all my heart. MRIs suck. They remind me that I'm sick. They deny me my clothes and space and comfort. They bring with them my legal name and a hefty pricetag. So, I wanted there to be some games out there that make you feel playful and empowered right when you need it most.

If you are just curious, you can take a look at the first edition of the flagship game in the collection, Get Home Cool, from when I submitted it to the 200 Word RPG Challenge 2018. After that, if you'd like to read the updated version or either of my other two MRI larps included in the MRI Suite, please consider paying the suggested donation or higher. The research for this larp collection was very, very expensive, and will be repeated every year or so by the designer until a cure is found.
